Message from the Principal

Welcome to Collettville!

On behalf of our students and staff, welcome to École Élémentaire Collettville, home of the Wild Cats! Every effort is made to provide a child-oriented school where students will have the opportunity to work and play in a modern, safe, clean, and happy environment.

We pride ourselves in being a French Immersion school and encourage students to communicate in French at every opportunity. We teach all subjects in the BC curriculum through the medium of French. From Grade 3 onwards, students are also introduced to reading and writing in English.

Children will have many teachers during their lifetimes, including their parents, community members, peers, and their teachers at school. We accept the responsibility of being part of your child’s educational journey and will do our best to fulfill our obligation to provide a safe and engaging learning environment for all.

Collettville is a Play is the Way school. We seek to develop the personal and social competencies of students through skill-building games and problem-solving activities. We support students to master their behaviour by encouraging them to use empowering self-reflective language.

We encourage you to regularly communicate with your child’s teachers. Email addresses can be found under the 'Meet the Staff" tab.

We extend a warm welcome and look forward to working with you over the coming year and hopefully years!

Mission Statement

Together, we will provide a safe and engaging learning environment for all.

Ensemble, nous créérons un milieu d’apprentissage stimulant et sécuritaire pour tous.

Play is the Way – We are a Play is the Way School!

PLAY IS THE WAY is a practical methodology for teaching social & emotional skills using:

  • A unique program of physically interactive games (that both require and develop personal and social competencies).
  • 5 guiding concepts (that are embedded through classroom activities and serve as a moral compass to help children do what they believe is right as opposed to doing what they are told).
  • A specific and empowering self-reflective language (that helps children to master their behaviour in preparation for a responsible life in free society).
